The Project. The first comprehensive update of the City of Newark’s zoning regulations since 1965.
The Result. The new Zoning Ordinance implements the City’s General Plan in a concise and user-friendly set of regulations. The new regulations are written to be predictable, understandable, and enforceable. A streamlined approval process is established for conforming projects. The Zoning Ordinance has a new format and organization, eliminating unnecessary regulations and repetition and makes extensive use of graphics to reduce wordiness.
